Position: Data Engineer Tech Lead

We’re now looking for a Data Engineer Tech Lead to join a high-energy team focused on building and evolving scalable data platforms and modern cloud-based solutions. In this role, you will combine hands-on engineering expertise with technical leadership, taking ownership of data architecture, engineering standards, and platform development. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design reliable data solutions, enable AI-driven initiatives, and support the continuous improvement of data capabilities.

The role is based in Poland (Warsaw) – remote work with occasional visits once a quarter

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines supporting reliable and efficient data processing
  • Build and improve data storage and processing solutions, ensuring availability, consistency, and security
  • Work hands-on with cloud-based data infrastructure and optimize solutions for performance and cost efficiency
  • Develop and maintain ETL/ELT workflows and data models supporting various business needs
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists, Analysts, Software Engineers, and other technical stakeholders to enable data-driven solutions Implement and promote best practices in software development, including testing, monitoring, deployment, and code quality
  • Contribute to AI-driven initiatives by preparing, integrating, and enabling access to data resources
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across data pipelines, processing systems, and storage layers
  • Act as the technical owner of core data platform components and drive their evolution
  • Define and communicate architectural decisions, technical standards, and engineering patterns
  • Review designs and code to ensure scalability, maintainability, and alignment with best practices
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Data Engineers, supporting their growth and development
  • Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to translate requirements into effective technical solutions
  • Support technical planning, estimation, and delivery coordination across data engineering initiatives

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer with strong hands-on engineering background
  • Experience designing and implementing data architectures and end-to-end technical solutions
  • Strong programming skills in Python or another modern programming language
  • Advanced knowledge of AWS cloud services, including S3, Glue, Lambda, DynamoDB, and Athena
  • Solid understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases, including schema design, optimization, and query performance
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining data processing pipelines (batch and/or streaming)
  • Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and storage formats
  • Understanding of software engineering best practices, including version control, CI/CD, and automated testing
  • Experience with architectural decision-making and communicating technical trade-offs
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or guiding engineers in a hands-on technical role
  • Strong ownership mindset and ability to drive initiatives from concept to production
  • Experience working in Agile environments
  • Good command of English (B2+ level or higher)

Nice to have:

  • Experience with data orchestration tools such as Airflow, Step Functions, or Prefect
  • Knowledge of big data technologies such as Spark or Hadoop
  • Experience with data governance, security, and compliance practices
  • Experience working with content-centric data, metadata, publishing workflows, or content management systems Experience building shared data platforms used by multiple teams or domains
  • Knowledge of cloud cost optimization strategies
  • Experience in an Engineering Manager or people leadership role
  • Familiarity with Generative AI technologies and AI-driven data solutions
